The Staatsoper Unter den Linden is to hold Open Day

To mark the start of the new season, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden will open its doors on Saturday, 12 September 2026, from 12 noon. With free admission, visitors can look forward to a varied programme featuring the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Staatsoper Chorus, singers from the ensemble and the International Opera Studio, guest soloists, members of the Orchestra Academy, the Staatsballett Berlin and the Junge Staatsoper. Numerous other ensembles, departments and technical teams at the opera house will offer insights into their work and invite visitors to get involved.

On the evening of August 29 (GMT+8), join us online to experience the very same performance that graced the "Davos of classical music"—the Verbier Festival. Featured are Simon Rattle, Kirill Gerstein, and the Verbier Festival Orchestra, captured on July 20 amid the Alps. The return of maestro Simon Rattle is a major highlight of this year's classical gala; together with pianist Kirill Gerstein, a vibrant presence on today's music scene, and the festival's resident Verbier Festival Orchestra. Four works—Ligeti's Atmosphères, the Prelude to Wagner's Lohengrin, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, and Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben—fully showcase the dazzling interplay between modern music and Romantic masterpieces.

Beijing Forum for Performing Arts

Initiated by the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), the World Association for Performing Arts (WAPA) is an international, professional and non-profit
social organization formed voluntarily by theaters, cultural groups, art colleges, cultural companies, and other institutions of performing arts. The WAPA is headquartered in Beijing with its Secretariat set at the NCPA.

The objective of the WAPA is to promote the international development of outstanding performing arts with national and regional characteristics and the integration of science and technology with performing arts by building an open and multilateral exchange platform so as to facilitate the exchange and mutual learning and common prosperity of
world civilizations.

Members

The WAPA consists of institutional members. Membership of the WAPA is open to all those who:
a). have the willingness to join the WAPA;
b). accept the Statute of the WAPA;
c). are well recognized in the professional field; and
d). have the willingness and ability to fulfill the obligations of members.

Currently, the WAPA consists of 30 member organizations from 19 countries across five continents.
